Failure

I got my second MCAT test results back. And I did worse. Worse than I expected and WORSE THAN BEFORE. I knew I would do worse in the sciences (except I remained the same in Physical Sciences) but my verbal reasoning score went down.

I'm sitting in tears now as I write this because my score is now so low I'm sure I don't stand a single chance, not at McMaster, not anywhere.

I don't know what I'm going to do. I wish I never re-wrote.

I feel like such a failure.

  1. This is the worst feeling ever, I know. Take a deep breath and just keep trying at it. You can always apply and see what happens. I'm sorry it wasn't what you had hoped for.

  2. I'm sorry it wasn't what you'd hoped. :(

YOU are not a failure, though, no test score can ever make that determination of a person. I hope you can come to a place where you feel calm enough to make a plan for what to do going forward. I know you can do this. Lots of people write many times before they get in.

  3. Awww don't worry, it's a hard test and all of the people that I know personally had to write the test 3-4 times, honestly, they all got into great schools with lowish verbal scores. Maybe you can try UofT? Don't give up hope, I need to study again for it, trying to think of the best strategy, it's tough sometimes I feel like I won't ever be able to do it but many people overcome this hurdle after a few tries, goodluck!

  4. Thanks so much for your kind comments. After a good cry, I felt better and kind of shook myself off and will keep persisting. I'm not going to give up. But all of your comments helped me regroup that much faster. Thanks again!

  5. Ugh- as a non-trad who also feels like the MCAT is THE definitive obstacle to overcome . . . I feel your pain.
I'm also planning a rewrite, and thinking about it scares me, lol.

Chin up though- regroup and restrategize. You can do it!

    1. I know, I HATE the MCAT. Its literally the ONE thing that is keeping me back and I just don't have the time (i.e. a 3 year BSc degree) to prepare for it properly. At the moment its too late for me to rewrite but I'll have to brave the beast and rewrite it sometime next year. UGH...Good luck to you too! I hope you have more success than me with your rewrite.
